If you want to be a guest on numerous podcasts, you might want to consider creating a one (or two) page document. Typically known as a “one-sheet,” this is essentially a marketing flyer designed to be used to provide your qualifications for being a podcast guest.
Your one-sheet should provide the following information:
- A brief bio
- Talking points and/or subject matter
- Professional headshot
- Contact information
If you’ve already been a guest on podcasts, you can include a “As Heard On” section with the podcast names. If you’re an author, be sure to include your book title(s).
While similar, it’s important to note that this is not a speaker one-sheet nor a media kit. It’s specifically written to provide a host with the information they need to consider you as a guest on their program. Let your personality shine through, and as you create the content, consider what you bring to a program that is worth listening to.
There are a variety of ways to create a one-sheet, and they can be as basic or creative as you want. Search online for “one sheet podcast template” for examples. There are free versions, as well as templates that you can purchase. The one shown here was created in Canva. Click here to see the full-size version.
Just remember to be concise and to the point. Avoid “fluff” – provide concrete examples of the information you can provide to the listeners. Remember that you’re not going on the podcast just to sell your book, product or service!
When you use your one-sheet, always make sure that you’re providing all of the information requested by the host. If they use a contact form for submission, make sure to answer all of the questions.
Your one-sheet should never replace your actual pitch. It’s just an additional way to provide the information about why you’d be a great guest.
